Top seed will take court early at Wichita Tennis Open

No. 1 seed Michael Mmoh will face Andrew Carter when play begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the Wichita Tennis Open at the Coleman Tennis Complex.

No. 2 seed Christian Harrison will play his first singles match Wednesday.

Eight singles matches and eight doubles matches are scheduled for Tuesday.

The 32-player singles tournament and 16-team doubles tournament will both conclude Saturday. The Wichita Tennis Open is an event on the International Tennis Federation Futures Tour, and is being contested for the third straight year. It offers $25,000 in prize money, with $3,500 going to the singles champion.

Mmoh, a late addition to the field, is ranked 184th in the world. He played in the main draw on the Australian Open in January, and last year’s U.S. Open. He won the Knoxville Open on Futures Tour in 2016.

Wichita State sophomore Murkel Dellien and junior Marius Frosa are part of the Wichita Tennis Open singles field. Dellien will play Isaiah Strode on Court 1 at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Frosa will play the day’s second match on Court 1, taking on Farris Fathi.
