Hutch women win NJCAA tourney opener

Kalani Purcell had 25 points and 15 rebounds, leading Hutchinson over South Georgia Technical 80-61 on Tuesday in the second round of the women’s NJCAA tournament in Salina.

Clemence LeFebvre hit five three-points and scored 22 for Hutchinson, Cynthia Petke scored 19 and Alyx Bloom had 10 assists as Hutchinson improved to 34-0.

Hutchinson will play Northwest Florida State in the quarterfinals at 1 p.m. Thursday.
