Child Advocacy Center deserves celebration

Wichita Eagle

Though it opened in June, the official celebration Tuesday of the new Child Advocacy Center was certainly well deserved. The center, which is located in the former Lincoln Elementary School just south of downtown, provides wraparound services to abused and neglected children. The building is a dramatic improvement from the previous cramped offices in the basement of the Finney State Office Building, and it enables multiple agencies to work together under the same roof to protect the safety and welfare of children. The child- and family-friendly facility is an important community statement about the worth and importance of our children. Thanks to Sedgwick County and the generous donors who made the center a reality. – Phillip Brownlee
