Opinion Line (Aug. 30)

It makes me sad and mad to see pictures of work being done in South Carolina on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the 737 MAX and soon the 777K. These jobs could still be here on South Oliver.

So Donald Trump is concerned about Boeing sending South Carolina jobs to China? As far as Wichitans are concerned, those jobs already went to China.

The pain and angst you are feeling is because the old ways don’t work anymore. The hegemony of corporate capitalism has broken our democracy and its political and economic systems.

Given that both presidential candidates are near 70 or older, I’m far more interested in their medical records than I am in their tax returns.

Trump’s campaign has been an unmitigated mess. All you Kool-Aid drinkers should tell us again about his fabulous business skills. Obviously, they don’t transfer to closing the deal for the presidency.

You have to wonder about the Clintons. They have both been caught in so many lies, what is their home life like?

Trump saying he regrets something is not the same as saying he is sorry. Regret is what this country will have if he gets elected.

Webster has added to their dictionary a new meaning to the word “lie” – “over exaggeration.”

I would be happy to provide tax credits for home schools and private/religious schools if they were held to the same requirements and restrictions as public schools. There are many reasons public funds are reserved for public schools.

The Eagle’s “out of the office” page is the biggest waste of paper I have ever seen. Those loafers have no idea what a real day’s work is. Wish I could get paid to stand around, chitchat, eat and drink and socialize.

The city switching from electric to fossil fuel tells me that “golf carts matter.” It also will drive tree-huggers crazy.

The idiots who set up the revised traffic flow at Kellogg and Webb need to be fired.
