Sedgwick County Commissioner Tim Norton is correct: The undersized northern entrance of Intrust Bank Arena is a nice problem to have. The arena location was chosen in hopes it would boost business in Old Town and along Douglas before and after events. It’s worked so well that the northern entrance is now too small. The county is considering a $2 million upgrade that would add an expanded lobby, more doors and more stairways. Commissioners must weigh the cost of the remodeling and its potential impact on the arena’s reserve fund. But as Norton noted: “We’ve made a lot of decisions on bad news over the years. It’s nice to make decisions on good news.” – Phillip Brownlee
