Opinion Line (Aug. 20)

I always thought of the NBC World Series as being a tournament in which college-age players had an opportunity to showcase their talent. I hope future tournaments do not become bidding wars for recently released pro players.

When President Obama told us ISIS was “on the run,” he failed to mention they were running towards the United States.

People say they like Donald Trump because “he says what he means.” So why has he had to backpedal so much lately and put a spin on what he meant?

Melania Trump gives one speech and suddenly Hillary Clinton’s supporters care about honesty and integrity.

Trump calls it sarcasm, and George H.W. Bush said, “Read my lips.” To Richard Nixon, they were “inoperative statements.”

It’s beyond me how, after Trump’s obvious, continued lies and frightening innuendos, we are allowing him to get away with it. When will the Republican National Committee put an end to this?

If Hillary Clinton robbed a bank and killed four innocent people plus two police officers in a gun fight, would that be enough for the liberal media to report on it?

How can the Department of Justice find so much wrong with the Baltimore Police Department but nothing with Clinton and her mishandling of government secrets?

Once again in Milwaukee there was no compliance. You cannot threaten and defy law enforcement and expect a positive outcome. Stop making bad decisions and comply.

Republicans had eight years to take a new course and start representing the poor and the middle class and win the White House. But that’s just not who they are.

Will someone please provide an option to vote “no” for president in the upcoming election?

Faith is fine. And while it shouldn’t replace reason, it can never be used to win an argument against facts.

Everyone needs to listen to Lee Greenwood’s song “Proud to be an American,” then live that life. We are the luckiest human beings on the Earth.
