A big “thank you” to the three Sedgwick County commissioners for their vote to stop and begin to reverse the socialist Big Brother agenda of “sustainability.”
What the heck do people like Commission Chairman Richard Ranzau think socialism is? It’s Social Security, it’s Medicare, it’s paved roads, it’s schools, cops, EMS. And, yes, it’s REAP, created so we could improve the community at large – something he was voted in to do, or not, it would appear.
Why doesn’t Commissioner Dave Unruh just change his registration to Democrat, as he always votes with Commissioner Tim Norton?
I love our new County Commission.
Some folks think all cops are bad; they’re wrong. Some act as if we need to support them no matter what; they’re wrong, too. Honest cops need to know that they will be supported for outing bad cops, not punished or face retaliation.
Passing the little Wichita marijuana fine/law not only makes economical sense, but would show the young and talented that Wichita is not a one-way city.
Good luck decriminalizing marijuana, but don’t think for a moment that your employer will be any less apt to fire you if you are a habitual user – if you even have a job.
Our society is willing and ready to incarcerate for a year and fine $2,500 anyone possessing a small amount of marijuana. Yet our society is willing to ignore the theft of pension funds by the dubious occupants of Wall Street. Our justice system is askew.
We love our children. We teach them to look both ways before crossing the street, and we put fences around our swimming pools. But we want to carry guns and marijuana in our pockets.
Now we know Gov. Sam Brownback’s budget plan: Take money from educating children so the rich do not have to pay taxes.
Brownback should encourage an increase of state gasoline taxes so he would have a larger highway trust fund to invade for other purposes.
2015 appears to be the year we get the answer to the question, “What’s the matter with Kansas?” And the answer is: It’s full of conservative fools.
Kansas must cut spending and improve efficiency, given its budget woes. Private businesses may still be inefficient, but they have downsized and improved performance over the past 20 years. Government hasn’t even begun this effort.
Bill O’Reilly could write a book titled “Killing Washington (D.C.)” and not be as thorough as Obama is in scripting the story.
