Heavy rain surely kept the crowd down at Saturday’s Convoy of Hope, which drew perhaps 5,000 compared with last year’s nearly 9,000. Yet, reflecting the community need, people cheerfully and gratefully stood in long lines and got drenched to access the school supplies, kids’ shoes, haircuts and other donated goods and services. Thanks to Bethel Life Church and the many other organizations that generously support the Convoy of Hope and its cause of neighbor helping neighbor. – Rhonda Holman
