Gov. Sam Brownback’s spin is pathetic. This was not an anti-incumbent vote. This was a vote against Brownback and his policies by commonsense Republicans.

I blame the Kansas conservatives’ primary election debacle on Brownback primarily. He sat on his hands for years as the liberal media savaged conservative laws and policies, while providing almost no defense thereof.

Senate President Susan Wagle is the next Brownback crony who needs to go. She has championed the highest tax increase for middle-class Kansans in history while fighting to protect no taxes for the rich. The budget mess falls directly on her.

Congratulations to the 1st Congressional District for booting Tim Huelskamp. Ever the flamethrower, he could not even be gracious in defeat. Says a lot about his character.

Rep. Mike Pompeo’s GMO legislation is common sense and keeps the cost of food down. The organic food industry has marketed this idea that GMOs are unsafe to line their own pockets. Nice work, congressman.

The Kansas Democratic Party rigged the game for Dan Giroux with a paid mailer in the primary. Robert Tillman supports the president and Hillary Clinton. Giroux is afraid to mention either. Yet the Democrats support Giroux?

The Sedgwick County Zoo. Or as Karl Peterjohn will be calling it, “the third rail of local politics.”

Our County Commission should realize that messing with the zoo is a no-win proposition.

Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet needs to wake up, as 60 percent of the people he works for voted for someone else.

If I had to vote for a heart attack or cancer, why would I vote for either one? Those are our choices for the presidential election.

On one hand we have a liar who is addicted to power and obviously running for president for personal gain, and on the other hand we have Donald Trump.

Trump may only be in this to continue to get the attention and publicity he craves. Is it possible he never wanted to be president?

The nomination of Donald Trump is exactly the reason we need superdelegates. They provide stability and sanity to a sometimes bizarre primary process.

Obama commuted the sentences of 214 felons – or, as Clinton refers to them, “voters and kindred spirits.”
