Opinion Line (Feb. 6)

If NBC News had any integrity, it would fire Brian Williams for lying to the American public about a combat experience he claimed in Iraq. I doubt Williams would be unemployed long, as Al-Jazeera America is always looking for talent.

I was a hero pilot in Vietnam. I once saved 10 fellow prisoners by opening a cell with a paper clip that I hid in my mouth for five years. Just ask Brian Williams. He was there, too.

We need to step in and shut down ISIS and other Islamic terrorists in the Middle East. If Obama is too cowardly to be the commander in chief to do so, then we need a leader who is willing to step in and put a halt to the nonsense.

I can’t stop laughing – Donald Trump and Sarah Palin as GOP candidates for president?

First it was not taking the $500,000 federal funding to help create a healthy society. Now they want to leave REAP, which helps to create a stronger regional economy. Hey, what’s next, Sedgwick County Commission? Creating your own sovereign state and leaving the state of Kansas?

Does the city of Wichita need to spend money on a fireworks display, when we already have one consisting of thousands of people shooting off illegal fireworks before and after the Fourth?

Gov. Sam Brownback wants to tie school finance to performance. Can we tie his salary to his performance? If so, since our state is in such trouble, I say he gets nothing. Now, is that going to help him get his job done? I don’t think so.

If Brownback would increase the tax at fast-food places by 3 percent, it would wipe out the money problems he created. A second option would be to visit the pope, and maybe some kind of divine intervention can be worked out.

Not one person I talk to admits to voting for Brownback. How did he get into office?

I’m getting so old that I actually remember when the terms Democrat and socialist had two different meanings.

Freedom of choice regarding inoculations against disease is equivalent to evolutionary thinning of the herd, and I support it.

I’m from Kansas and like all three basketball teams. When the Shockers man up and leave the Missouri Valley Conference, they might get to play the big boys. Till then, the Sunflower Showdown is KU and KSU.
