Opinion Line Extra (July 25)
Donald Trump is Frank Underwood without the political experience.
Isn’t it kind of ironic that in 60-plus years no one ever accused Trump of being a racist, until he started running against a Democrat? Then, like always, their constant accusation surfaces. When all else fails, call someone a racist.
I believe Trump wants to win. But I think it’s because it will add to his fame. Not because he gives a crap about us.
When Republican conventioneers booed a speaker for saying voters should let their consciences guide them in the voting booth in November, that crowd’s reaction convinced this independent thinker to switch television channels and vote for more Democrats this year.
This national election process has exposed the corruption, fraud, rigging and abuse that have been rampant for years. And now Kasich, Bush, Romney and Cruz have shown their true colors and should end up on the political trash heap of history.
I used to think that Donald Trump had a lot of nerve calling others liars. After listening to his acceptance speech, I now realize that he is just living in a fantasyland of his own.
I’m sorry, but no one has been making false accusations against Hillary Clinton.
Cute timing for Obama to meet with the Mexican president. Very flashy. How about a summit meeting on domestic crises such as the unemployment rate among black youths, with job prospects being eroded by uncontrolled immigration? This voiceless group has never been a high priority with Obama.
Why do people claim Obama is the first black president? Wasn’t his mom white?
It is amazing how President Obama, by himself, made such a mess of things while the Republicans who controlled Congress couldn’t, or wouldn’t, and didn’t do anything except whimper and whine?
Well-earned recognition for our police chief for taking the initiative to enhance community relations amid recent killings. Darts for Senate President Susan Wagle for taking the silly and typical Republican stance of blaming Obama’s lack of action. That accomplished nothing, and only fuels the fire.
Common sense should tell you that police officers can act like the real people they are if you are not screaming obscenities in their faces with bullhorns.
Susan Wagle is the problem, not the solution.
Fill your life with memories, not junk or junk food.
When the time comes I don’t think I’ll fear death, but I sure will miss NPR.
