Opinion Line Extra (July 22)

It’s obvious that Republican voters want to change their party away from the past few years of their hard-line stands on issues, but is the moody Trump the right person for this switch?

I am confused. Are we getting ready for a presidential election or an over-the-top “reality” show? Sad.

To all you Clinton zombies out there: Michelle Obama did not invent the phrase “your word is your bond.” I think I was in grade school the first time I heard those words. I am 74.

At last, something we can all agree on: The Obamas give great speeches. “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.”

Seven years ago, Obama promised to fundamentally trash America. He certainly has.

I cannot comprehend why anyone hates the United States of America so much that they would support Clinton in any way. She has repeatedly demonstrated her hatred for this country and its citizens.

Another officer acquitted in the death of Freddie Gray. This is the problem that has to be addressed. He suffered a fatal spine injury while in police custody. We know that he did not break his own back while handcuffed. Does his life really matter?

The political ads for Tim Huelskamp and Roger Marshall leave one to question: Is this the best we can find?

The really, really scary part of the Huelskamp story is that we still have people supporting this guy. Proof we need to increase our funding for education.

There are political signs promoting incumbents popping up in my neighborhood. Wake up. Kansas is in the worst situation ever. Don’t vote for an incumbent. There are four former governors, two Republican and two Democrats, calling for a change. Change your vote before it’s too late.

I would love to see the Sedgwick County commissioners lower admission for the zoo to $10 for adults and $5 for kids.

A reader twisted Scripture (July 4 Opinion Line). If you study Luke 22:36 and surrounding verses you would quickly discover that Jesus was absolutely not advocating weapon ownership and was exasperated when his disciples misunderstood and thought he was.

What a sick society – thinking other people want to hear your music, your cellphone yap or your fireworks for hours on end. I pity poor vets suffering from PTSD. But you couldn’t care less about anything not involving you.

Religion is, and always will be, subservient to the need to eat.
