Melania Trump’s address at the Republican convention proves that foreigners aren’t just stealing our jobs, they’re stealing our speeches.

I cannot believe the news media are so trivial about a few words being similar in speeches about work ethic and strong values. How does a proud person put together a speech and not have similarities to another speech on the same subjects?

A Trump Cabinet will be full of mature, responsible and experienced people, far different from the immature, irresponsible and inexperienced of the Obama Cabinet.

A proverb of note for Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton: A whistling woman and a crowing hen will not come to a good end.

So when is Congress going to investigate the GOP lynch mob that keeps hounding and harassing Hillary Clinton and making false accusations against her?

How many piles of dirty clothes do we have to throw at Hillary until one of them turns to gold?

The police barbecue was a great idea and should be an annual event at the River Festival.

Can we please stop saying “boots on the ground”? They are soldiers, our sons and daughters – volunteers. They’re humans, not footwear.

Yes, everyone, this is the new normal: ambushed cops, ax attacks on trains and mass shootings, particularly in so-called gun-free zones.

Isn’t it incredible how much incumbent politicians can “accomplish” in an election year? What about all of the other years?

I’m waiting to update my e-mail contact information until after the November elections. I think I’m going to be deleting quite a few incumbents. It will be lots of work adding the new ones, but I don’t mind at all.

Huelskamp and Suellentrop – hard names to spell but easy to vote out of office. Let’s get some new ideas at the federal and state levels.

Memo to county commissioners: Stop trying to micromanage our excellent zoo. There is no reason to disturb the current relationship with the zoo board or the zoo director. Leave well-enough alone.

With all the money the city has spent to satisfy the whims of a few hundred bicycling enthusiasts, is it not time to reintroduce the bicycle license fee? A $10-per-year fee should not keep any cyclists away from their apparent enjoyment.

Would someone please explain the purpose of the Olympics, other than seeing who can get away with the most cheating?
