A New York Times editorial Monday didn’t mince words about Kris Kobach, calling his performance as Kansas’ secretary of state “a blight on true democracy.” The editorial noted how, despite court rulings against him, Kobach pushed forward with his two-tiered voting scheme in which more than 17,000 Kansans will be allowed to vote in federal elections but not state and local elections. “Kobach is pushing the myth that voter cheating is rampant,” the editorial said. “But he has utterly failed to document that, despite his Javert-like zealotry.” – Phillip Brownlee
