Opinion Line (July 18)

Republican candidates want to protect us from terrorists while Democrats want to protect windmills and bathrooms.

Why are you so afraid of transgender people and the (false) fear they may harm your child in a bathroom? Don’t you realize you have been sharing bathrooms with transgender folks for decades?

Does anyone remember Richard Nixon? And yet there are those who would vote for Hillary Clinton. What a strange world.

This November we get to choose between a sociopath and a socialist. I will take the latter, thank you. Go, Hillary.

I would recommend that Clinton pick Judge Gonzalo Curiel as her choice for vice president. It would not only increase the turnout of Latinos, it would be a constant reminder of Trump’s bigotry.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has apologized for her ill-advised comments about Donald Trump. Now maybe she’ll apologize for some of her ill-advised court decisions based on her opinion instead of the Constitution.

That Ginsburg commented on Trump’s candidacy: no big deal. That the right wing of the court installed George W. Bush as president instead of counting the people’s votes: big deal.

Since the Wichita police officers have so much time to hand out extra tickets for seat belt violations, does that mean they have no other pressing issues to attend to?

Have others thought that as Westar Energy raises its rates, the number of power outages goes up?

After yet another outage, I have added Westar to my cellphone contacts list.

To those who think it is OK to bring their pets into restaurants, grocery stores and other retail establishments: Don’t pretend that it is a service animal when it’s not.

I used to hate Zoo Boulevard because it cut through Wichita in such a strange way, but now I’ve grown to love the road. It’s so much better than Kellogg to get downtown.

Congratulations to Tim Duncan on his retirement from the San Antonio Spurs. This man is a truly class act. All athletes should strive to emulate this humble and great champion.
