Former Republican Kansas Senate President Dave Kerr joined with former Democratic Gov. John Carlin in calling for changes at the Statehouse, the Hutchinson News reported. “We need to have people in the Legislature who will challenge the status quo,” Kerr said at a meeting Monday at Hutchinson Community College. Carlin, who recently united with three other former governors in opposing the policies of Gov. Sam Brownback, said this is not just another election. “This election is about the future of our state.” – Phillip Brownlee
