Opinion Line Extra (July 11)
Wake up, America. Our country is under attack by a media trying to start a war within our borders, and it’s working.
I own several guns. Yet I am constantly amazed that assault weapons are for sale. There is no defense against these rifles, which are easily converted to fully automatic. They are weapons of war designed for one purpose. To kill people. Or our police officers.
If those wanting to get rid of the Second Amendment succeed and you think that will be the end of it, you are wrong, my friend. That is only the beginning.
Laws against committing crimes with a firearm are clearly working, so let’s disarm law-abiding citizens.
I trust all you good-intentioned voters who helped elect Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012 because he would reduce racial tensions are happy with your decision today.
Since Watergate, the Republicans haven’t changed a bit. They are as crooked as ever, and this election – the one they plan on waging against Hillary Clinton – will prove what history has already taught us about the GOP.
Move over, Venezuela. The Yankee banana republic of the north, the USA, has joined your ranks. The rule of law doesn’t apply to our Democrat government officials either.
FBI Director James Comey insulted many citizens when he asked us to believe that a former first lady, attorney, senator and secretary of state was simply extremely careless and technically unsophisticated and there was no intent to hide or deceive. He ignored her lies to Congress. We do not believe him.
A contributor questioned if the Republicans will survive Donald Trump. They shouldn’t. And the Democrats shouldn’t survive Hillary Clinton. Neither party is fit to govern.
Perhaps the Legislature can find some money by renting the state plane to Secretary of State Kris Kobach. He should reimburse the state for his private use.
Well, boo-hoo, Sen. Forrest Knox. So the educators whose jobs and careers are in jeopardy due to the far right’s agenda to destroy public education in Kansas are organizing against you. To most of us, that would seem the smart thing to do.
As Knox was whining about school personnel’s “coordinated effort” against him, he said, “We certainly need the services of public employees, but do you want them to be in charge of appropriating their own paychecks?” Isn’t that what legislators did when they voted themselves a full pension for a part-time job?
