Opinion Line Extra (July 6)

So Obama’s latest idea is to invite tens of thousands of Mideast refugees to America and have corporations like Google and Microsoft offer them permanent jobs and support their being here. How about if we offer those jobs to unemployed veterans and American citizens first?

Hooray! Hooray! Only five more months of Obama.

So, we are supposed to believe that Bill Clinton being on the same airport tarmac as Attorney General Loretta Lynch was just a coincidence? And we are supposed to believe that during their 30-minute private meeting they only discussed grandchildren? Does any sane person really believe them?

Oh, for Pete’s sake. Only Trump and the media would take a chance encounter of President Clinton and Loretta Lynch talking about their grandkids, and call it a “meeting” and a “scandal.” Want a real scandal? Fraud, lying, obscenities? Look in the mirror, Trump.

The Benghazi “hunt” confirmed what we already knew: Hillary lied, and an ambassador and some other brave men died. What a disgrace.

Conservatives’ policy of low taxes to attract new businesses always results in a race to the bottom, one Kansas is clearly winning.

I hope the school-funding issue can be fixed soon. Maybe there can be enough math taught that the state government will be able to get a decent estimate of the incoming revenue and be able to plan accordingly. Right now apparently they don’t have a clue on how to figure it.

My legislator wants me to thank him, give him some cash and re-elect him for doing what he refused to do before being forced to do it by the Kansas Supreme Court. He’s a funny guy, because what I want is his comeuppance.

Woman stabs four children to death. Therefore knives are a weapon of mass murder. Therefore legislation requiring extensive background checks for knife purchases should be passed, or I’ll hold a sit-in.

Will anyone raving about gun rights read the entire Second Amendment? It had one purpose when written – to provide a militia when a standing army wouldn’t be accepted. With the National Guard, and of course an army, the amendment should be considered obsolete, or be rewritten.

Nothing could be more ignorant than to build a new football stadium at WSU for five or six games a year with soft attendance.

Is it lack of pride or respect for others, laziness, choosing to live like animals or because the city doesn’t hold them accountable for violating city ordinances that causes people to leave their trash carts at the curb perpetually or, worse, still in the street?
