One bright spot in the difficult process of crafting a school funding fix is that lawmakers and state and local education officials actually talked to each other. House and Senate budget leaders met with Kansas State Department of Education officials and superintendents from several large school districts, including Wichita superintendent John Allison, to try to forge an agreement.
