Opinion Line Extra (June 24)

Your average person with a typical handgun wouldn’t have a chance against a nut using an AK-47 assault rifle unless he could shoot like Roy Rogers.


The left doesn’t give a whit about anyone’s safety and security. It’s all about gun confiscation, the hallmark of true despots. All the more reason to have guns.


Is the NRA an ISIS shell? It’s defending weapons of mass destruction. Someone tell George Bush we found them.


Note the Democrats are now calling the AR platform a “weapon of war.” Instead of pointing out the horrors of radical Islam, they go after “the gun lobby.” This type of foolishness must stop or we’ll never cure the world’s ills.


Remember who bought illegal whiskey during Prohibition? The same kind of thing will happen if we restrict gun sales. Honest people obey laws. Dishonest ones don’t.


Maybe it’s not the gun that’s dangerous but the television shows that push the crap called entertainment.


If you want to cut down violent deaths here, you have to fight the battle in the Middle East, not wait until it’s rampant here.


Gays want and think they have the right to respect, and yet they show the ultimate in disrespect when they have a U.S. flag with the stripes replaced with rainbow colors.


Someone wrote that we as a nation should protect our daughters and mothers “from having to face combat, from having to face killing or being killed.” Why shouldn’t we feel the same way about our sons and fathers?


Two sure things about the GOP convention in Cleveland: Trump will be chosen as a candidate for president. There will be plenty of empty parking spaces to choose from.


Republicans claim the Democrats have no moral values while voicing their support for Donald Trump, the most amoral Republican candidate ever.


Is Rep. Tim Huelskamp being hypocritical? A TV ad proclaims that he never voted for a tax increase. Did he ever take a pay raise while he was in office?


I wish our Kansas legislators would have banned peeing into the wind. It seems like that is all Sam Brownback and Kris Kobach have been doing for the past six years.


The Eagle’s recent story headlined “How a school shutdown would affect Kansas high school athletics” would have been more interesting had it been about how a shutdown of Kansas high school athletics would affect the school budget.
