Opinion Line Extra (June 23)

The “pro-life” folks might be successful in getting a law passed if they include a provision that all females between puberty and menopause be provided free birth control pills.


The First Amendment preserves the freedom of the press. Our press was to be the watchdog of the republic. Now it is no more than a group of politically minded progressives who attack the enemies of the progressive movement, and prop up their candidates and policies through selective and biased reporting.


In seven short years, there remains little money to support our veterans, but all kinds of money to bring Syrian refugees into our country.


All guns have been banned in Britain for decades, and yet a murderer got a gun and shot and killed a member of Parliament. So you see, boys and girls, that’s how gun bans work.


It’s such fun to watch a buffoon like Donald Trump implode before your eyes. He’s such a nut job even the NRA is distancing itself from him and his latest Orlando rant.


I’m a geezer, but I’m a smart geezer. I’ve voted twice for Barack Obama, and though it didn’t mean anything in this state, I’m proud of doing the right thing. With a little cooperation he could have been great, not just pretty darned good.


I’m saying Obama has not done a good job. The U.S. economy still remains in a slump after eight years. My medical insurance premium is doubling again. And after a layoff years back, and no longer being counted as unemployed after the first six months, I’m retiring early.


Hey, Seattle, how’s that jacked-up minimum wage working? I hear the employees there are now clamoring for fewer work hours so they don’t make so much money that they lose their subsidized housing. You just cannot fix stupid, nor legislate intelligence.


It seems a little hard to believe, but I think Roger Marshall might actually be a worse choice for the citizens of Kansas than Tim Huelskamp.


I thought the Republicans in Topeka were against welfare and picking winners and losers. Since they oppose the Democrats’ plan to cut $13 million in welfare (under the guise of a job creation program) to Kansas businesses, it looks like the winners have been picked.


Do all these law firms advertising on television pay state income taxes, or are they LLCs? If they are LLCs, then they need to pay taxes since they have so much money to advertise.
