Opinion Line Extra (June 21)

None of us should be afraid to say what we think, but with that right comes the responsibility to first think about it before we say it.


If you insist on politicians using the term “radical Islam,” you’d better be prepared to hear the term “radical Christianity.” They both do irreparable harm.


If we truly don’t want to offend anyone’s “religious” beliefs we must free Charles Manson, for he was entitled to his “religious” beliefs. His followers were just practicing their faith, and there’s nothing wrong with following his teachings.


I just witnessed death and mayhem – fully automatic weapons, terrorism, destruction. Where did I see it? On the same national television networks that cry for strict gun controls – hypocrites that sell anything for money. They glorify death and call it action TV.


Hillary Clinton’s abuse of her government e-mails shows her elitism and her belief that she does not live under the law like the rest of us. She is a classic example of business as usual in Washington.


Want to know why the Republican Party won’t unite behind Donald Trump? It’s because the GOP is trying to foist a Democrat on conservative voters. Ditch Donald Trump and nominate Ted Cruz, and there just might be party unity after all.


Politicians who are supporting a candidate they actually believe would make a terrible or even dangerous president have destroyed their own credibility and integrity. It’s a chief reason citizens’ trust in politicians and the American political process is rapidly declining. To avoid chaos, they should mend their integrity.


What a great country. People elected to do a job can put that job on pause to run for another one – the presidency, for example – while the taxpayer continues to pay them. And after they lose, they can return to the original office as if nothing happened.


Dogfighting is illegal because it’s cruel, yet it’s OK to kill horses while horse racing. I think it would sicken any normal person to see a horse go down while racing, which is why the TV cameras won’t show it. Horse racing is cruel.


When you are on a public roadway, if your attention is not completely focused on the immense responsibility of driving your car, because you have chosen to focus instead on whatever worthless text or call you believe is far superior to this immense responsibility, then you are dead wrong.
