Delegation OK with gun restriction but wants safeguards

Members of the Kansas congressional delegation agree with Democrats that someone on the terrorism watch list should be restricted from buying guns, but they want some redress for anyone mistakenly on list, the Topeka Capital-Journal reported. Several of them, including Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Wichita, support legislation that would place a 72-hour ban on buying a gun for anyone on the federal no-fly list and then require federal authorities to convince a judge to extend the prohibition beyond three days. “The no-fly list is littered with inaccurate entries – including children and U.S. air marshals,” Rep. Lynn Jenkins, R-Topeka, told the Capital-Journal. “Utilizing such a list to deprive people of their constitutional rights is a slippery slope.” – Phillip Brownlee
