Opinion Line Extra (Jan. 28)
If only the American people and press cared as much about who is president as they care about the pressure of a football.
Obama building the economy? No. Since December 2007, the shale oil states have added 1.36 million jobs while all of the rest of the states combined have lost 424,000 jobs. Obama opposes shale oil.
Is there anything that President Obama can do and that President George W Bush also did that won’t have Republicans up in arms?
I guess I will need to stop reading the Opinion Line while drinking my morning coffee. That comment about Fox News “telling both sides of every story” made me choke. In fact I’m still laughing.
Wow – someone believes Fox News tells both sides of a news story. I agree. It tells the far right side, Republican, extremely far right side and tea party sides of all stories.
I guess if you believe in the crystal ball of inaccuracies and untruths, the all-seeing eye with blinders, and the motto of “get it wrong all the time – every time,” then there’s no doubt you’d believe that Fox News tells both sides of the story.
Watching the two leaders of Congress, Frick and Frack, on “60 Minutes” solidified the belief that the next two years will be little different from the past six years.
If Jesus were on Earth today, he would not be involved in politics, just as he wasn’t 2,000 years ago.
I wish The Eagle would get at least a smidgen of state political commentary from someone other than left-wing political science professors.
Does Gov. Sam Brownback ever make choices, or is he forced to do whatever he is told? I think he makes choices, so why is he so intent on taking Kansas women’s right to choose away from them?
A 2009 Harvard School of Public Health study indicated that Republicans were 15 percent less likely to be smokers when compared with Democrats. Brownback knows fully well whom he will be gouging most to make up for lost revenue by increasing the tax on a pack of cigarettes by $1.50.
I am glad I am living close to Oklahoma, where the tax on gas is a lot less. I can pick up my beer and cigarettes when I fill up there. Brownback eliminated the tax on big business and now he wants us all to pay for it.
Everyone should have to pay his taxes. If you can’t pay what you owe, then the IRS needs to set you up on a payment plan and charge you interest. There shouldn’t be negotiated settlements. If you owe it, then pay it.
I wish doctors would be more selective about passing out handicap parking placards. People shouldn’t be given the right to use handicap parking just because they stubbed their toe.
