Opinion Line (Jan. 28)

It seems like we are reverting back to the Roy Rogers and the Lone Ranger days when everybody carried a six-shooter and needed to practice his quick draw.

Only tyrants need fear a well-armed populace.

Strange logic that a few potheads in Kansas think they should be able to smoke marijuana because it’s tolerated in a couple of states, but others think Kansans should not be allowed to carry weapons constitutionally without a permit even though more states allow that than smoking dope.

Anyone who denies a cancer patient medicinal marijuana is heartless.

Have you noticed that it’s red states where our president chooses to ruin the economy? First he maligned Kansas and Wichita’s aircraft industry. Now he’s ramming it to Alaska, attempting to permanently block oil drilling in the wildlife refuge areas. Wildlife has demonstrated that it can coexist with oil wells.

Is there anything that the president and Democratic Party don’t think some American should get for free in yet another government program?

Obama isn’t kind of a Kansas values guy, as he claims. He is a Soviet Union economic policy kind of guy.

If you think Obama is doing a great job, you are probably getting handouts from the government.

I love Photoshop. I noticed when John Boehner and Mitch McConnell were interviewed by Scott Pelley on “60 Minutes,” their marionette strings had been erased.

There will be only one concept of family values in Kansas – Gov. Sam Brownback’s.

Perhaps Brownback should see a neurologist about his memory loss.

Instead of taxing cigarettes and alcohol again, raise the tax on sugar, ice cream, doughnuts and soft drinks. Kill two birds with one stone – raise revenue and lower obesity.

I am totally in favor of tax cuts and giveaways for the underachiever and ne’er-do-well, as long as it comes out of your hard-earned money, not mine.

So “all taxes are theft”? If that is the case, the next time you need help, call a criminal. Police and firemen are not required.

How’s that “drill, baby, drill” thing working for all you oil lovers?

Retail and food service workers: Stop saying “not a problem.” We know it’s not a problem. It’s your job. The proper response when thanked would be “you’re welcome” or “my pleasure.”
