The zoo receives millions of dollars from the taxpayers of this county. I applaud the majority county commissioners for asking for more involvement. They are doing a good job of looking after our money. Why can’t everyone see this?


Our zoo is the best thing Sedgwick County has going for it. The current partnership is a model of good stewardship and has served all of us well over the decades. It does not now, all of a sudden, need to be “fixed” by the new commission majority.


After 126 years in business, Varney’s bookstore in Manhattan is closing at the end of the month. Speaking of the lack of demand for books: Wichita moves forward on the new downtown library.


Oh, if only the Carr brothers’ dad had written a letter to the judge. Maybe they would be out of jail now.


Based on the deep disrespect our legislators have for the Kansas Supreme Court, I will vote to retain all of the justices on the ballot to keep some semblance of reason in the state legislative process.


Brownback and legislators like to accuse the courts of “threatening” to shut down our schools. Like a policeman “threatens” to arrest you for child abuse and neglect.


Following the Legislature’s logic: Just because I ran a red light doesn’t mean some “activist” judge should be able to tell me I can’t drive.

How can anyone say Obama has not done a good job? He fixed the biggest recession we have had since the 1930s, passed health care for many who have never had it and has the lowest unemployment rate in a long time.


Democrats are at an advantage, as they are not constrained by ethics, morals, personal responsibility or a press that holds them accountable.


Calling a real estate course a university is a fraud in itself. Perhaps only a Trump can cover a fraud with a worse one – threatening the legal system.
