Kansas shows other states what not to do on taxes

In another case of Kansas as cautionary tale, the Newark-based Star-Ledger editorialized: “There’s no mystery behind the budget wreck in Kansas. It wasn’t a freak accident. Tax rates matter, yes, but so does investing in public schools, research universities, reliable transportation systems – the stuff that taxes pay for.” The editorial credited New Jersey Democrats with preventing Gov. Chris Christie from cutting personal income taxes by 10 percent in 2012 but noted that legislative leaders in both parties are proposing tax cuts now, concluding: “Like Kansas’ delusional governor, will they never learn?” – Rhonda Holman
