Opinion Line Extra (June 10)

The Kansas Supreme Court didn’t raise the issue of proper school funding. It was our elected Kansas public school boards.

The Republicans handed the Democrats their strongest selling point for the upcoming elections by letting them spearhead petitioning our obstinate governor to allow legislative discussion and possible resolution to a persistent school-funding problem, which the Republicans have been nurturing for years.

Do Democrats understand why Bernie Sanders spent his honeymoon in Russia and now claims to be a socialist?

Hillary Clinton has issues. Her issues are those that affect us, the voters. Go to her website and see what issues, and how she addresses them. Then go to Donald Trump’s website. Mmm.

Bill Clinton earned $200,000 per year as president. Taxpayers paid for the Clintons’ living expenses, travel expenses, vacations, etc. Yet Hillary famously said the Clintons were “dead broke” when they left the White House. And we’re supposed to turn the American economy over to Hilly and Billy?

It’s hard to believe what Trump says. It’s even harder to believe that people believe it and think he’s presidential material.

How despicable of someone to suggest we should stop remembering World War II because it was 75 years ago (June 8 Opinion Line). To those vets still living: Be assured that we will never forget. That was 75 years of freedom you bought for us. True Americans will still feel blessed, and honored, forever.

The June 1 Eagle contained side-by-side articles headlined “Patrons of vegan cafe in Georgia hit with meat” and “Fallujah battlefield: entrenched fighting, fears for civilians.” If the world weren’t in such a sad state, you might find a little dark humor in those articles.

I nearly choked when I read the comment that the Republican Party is the party of peace (June 7 Opinion Line). I guess the invasions of Iraq, Afghanistan and Panama and the Gulf War did not happen under Republican administrations.

Out of curiosity, I sat down with a pen to try that oh-so-difficult Universal Crossword (June 2 Opinion Line). It took me about 15 minutes; I looked up nothing. That person who found it so hard might want to crack a book and stop announcing his ignorance to the world.

Thank you for bringing back the original daily crossword and not discontinuing the ones normally in the paper. I love having two to do each day – one to challenge my brainpower and the other to feel good about solving easily.
