The Great Bend physician challenging Rep. Tim Huelskamp, Fowler/Hutchinson, had hoped to appear on the Aug. 2 primary ballot as Roger “Doc” Marshall. But Bryan Caskey of the Kansas Secretary of State’s Office told the Hutchinson News: “We removed the ‘Doc’ from the name. There’s a state law that prohibits any kind of occupation from being listed on the ballot.” But apparently there is no law requiring someone to provide a home address for the Secretary of State’s Office candidate list. Huelskamp was the only primary candidate whose filing didn’t list at least a city as an address. The News noted Huelskamp “and his family have lived in Hutchinson since his first term, and he uses his mother’s address in rural Fowler for his voter registration address.” – Rhonda Holman
