Wichita’s airport got an artful new logo to go along with its new name and terminal on Monday. It’s time for people to start getting used to hearing about and seeing signs for Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport even if they refuse to stop using the “Mid-Continent” name themselves. Mid-Continent Road, for example, is now Eisenhower Airport Parkway. Many citizens continue to see the change as a waste of money, and saw no problem with the airport’s ’70s hand-me-down name from Kansas City, Mo. But the cost was small in the context of the new $160 million terminal, which should go into service later this spring. And it was high time that Kansas’ largest city pay formal tribute to Kansas’ only U.S. president, whose reputation only continues to grow. – Rhonda Holman
