Opinion Line Extra (June 5)

The media often ask Ivanka Trump how her father treats women. Why have the media never asked Chelsea Clinton this?

Ben Franklin is credited with saying: “We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid.” I guess that’s why low-information Donald Trump is working so hard.

Ironically, Nixon was dismissed for erasing 18 minutes of public record, while Hillary Clinton goes unscathed with four years of missing public records on an unapproved e-mail server.

So, the Donald says Hillary has to go to jail. If anyone could go to jail, it is Trump. He has to be the most famous crook ever to run for president. Just look at all the lawsuits against him and use the so-called Trump University as an example.

Now I have seen it all. Hillary Clinton has gone to pop-up ads on my computer. Can she stoop any lower for votes?

After listening to Hillary Clinton’s powerful Thursday speech, I am sure one word most accurately describes Donald Trump’s ability to be our next president: unfit.

The Benghazi attack occurred on Sept. 11, 2012 – the 11th anniversary of the original attack. Security was spread thin around the world. How about giving Hillary a break, you jerks?

Shame on the state legislators who think they deserve a huge pension for working a part-time gig. They chose to do this knowing what it was. They should give those of us who actually worked full time the pension they think they earned. Vote them out.

If the Civil War were fought today, would Kansas still fight to preserve the Union and free the slaves? It makes traditional Republicans wonder. The neoconservatives talk a lot about freedom, but freedom for what? For single-issue, hot-button candidates to rule? Not for reasonable solutions to real problems.

It’s OK. I’m sure the people you killed or maimed when you ran a stoplight, stop sign or crossed into oncoming traffic won’t feel bad about you when they find out it wasn’t your fault because all three of your brain cells were attached to a cellphone.

I’m sure glad that the Westar Energy shareholders got such a great deal with the purchase by Great Plains. Yet they intend to proceed with rate increase proposals. What a great deal for the rest of us.

With regard to merging Westar Energy and Great Plains: Why not do more of a stock swap rather than mostly buyout? This would let Westar stockholders have more ownership of the combined company without having to pay so much tax to the federal government.
