It dawned on me, watching the latest Donald Trump press conference: The First Amendment is now under serious threat. How he trashed reporters just for asking questions was terrifying.


Have you noticed that nearly all the nicknames and other epithets that Trump hurls at other people – lightweight, weak, failure, little, sleazy, lying, goofy, crazy, crooked, etc. – actually apply to Trump? Psychologists call it “projection.”


I could vote for a third-party candidate. A business-minded person, free of special interest groups, unafraid to say things that need to be said, intent on making America great again, not a career politician. Wait – don’t we already have that candidate?


Kansas is starving for more sales tax revenue, but Derby and the state are still considering building a dinosaur park with millions in STAR bonds. Would someone annex Kansas – please?


Shame on the Kansas Supreme Court for its recent school-funding decision. The justices need to consider the harm they are doing to the school system.


Why can’t legislators just take a little more money out of the Department of Transportation budget to fix the schools’ budget? Problem solved. But it’s not about schools. It’s about starting a confrontation with the courts.


Senate President Susan Wagle should resign. She fought for income tax relief for a millionaire who does not live in Kansas but supported the largest tax increase in history for middle- and low-income Kansas residents.
