Opinion Line Extra (June 3)

Before you anti-campus carry folks get all vocal about the UCLA shooting, I’d like to point out that California does not allow concealed carry and UCLA was a gun-free zone. This fact was, of course, ignored by the gunman but resulted in the professor being unable to defend himself.

Baylor University is to be commended for firing Ken Starr as president. However, retaining him as a faculty member in the law school? Maybe he can teach ethics.

A recent poll indicated that 71 percent of Democrats would still vote for Hillary Clinton even if she were indicted for her e-mail server. That is a long way from George Washington and “I cannot tell a lie.” Our once-great nation is being destroyed by its voters. That is very sad.

If the Donald is elected president, “POTUS” will then mean “pompous old Trump’s ultimate scams.”

Since Ted Cruz dropped out of the race, I find myself hardly able to care at all about following politics. We are doomed either way. Thank you, Trump supporters, for drumming out the last guy who actually respects the Constitution. Nice job.

What does it mean when you vote for a person only because of their race or ethnicity? Or gender? Gee, I need to know, because I need the enlightenment from the intellectual so I can understand. I’m a simple person. I’ll await your response.

The shutdown of the Kansas schools is the equivalent of the federal shutdown over Obamacare.

Here’s my theory: The people who voted for Brownback in the last election are the same people who voted against a casino in Wichita, and they plan to vote for Trump for president.

Isn’t it time Gov. Sam Brownback and the Kansas Legislature cut their own salaries and their own retirements to balance the budget and fund schools?

Isn’t it ironic that our legislators can’t be bothered to balance the state budget and punt it off to Brownback, but if an issue comes up that has sex involved they rush back to Topeka to do their “job”?

Why should my civil rights be dictated by your interpretation of the parts of the Bible you choose to believe in?

For those offended by the local stations’ coverage of severe weather: May I recommend satellite TV? Apparently real life upsets you. I would rather miss a couple of hours of “Dancing With the Stars” or whatever so someone is alerted to a tornado than see lives lost in storms.
