Larger funding cut translating to higher tuition
College students received another expensive lesson in cause and effect last week, as Kansas State University announced plans to increase its proposed tuition increase for the fall from 5 percent to 5.81 percent. K-State was responding to larger than expected budget cuts announced the previous week by Gov. Sam Brownback. Other universities may follow suit before the Kansas Board of Regents’ June meeting. – Phillip Brownlee
