Responding to the State Department inspector general’s report critical of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private e-mail server as secretary of state, Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Wichita, released a statement calling her management of communications “underhanded and unserious.” Among his other strong words: “We now know for certain that her home-brewed e-mail server was not approved by the State Department, and never would have been for the same reason we don’t put classified information on Twitter. Hillary Clinton violated the trust of the American people. This is unacceptable behavior for any high-ranking U.S. official, and Secretary Clinton ought to be held to account.” Pompeo said in January he was “hopeful” that an FBI probe would lead the Justice Department to bring charges against Clinton, now the likely Democratic presidential nominee. That investigation is ongoing. – Rhonda Holman
