Opinion Line Extra (May 19)

With the U.S. government announcing a contract for a new presidential Air Force One, it would be nice if Boeing were still in town. Boeing Wichita delivered the current two, and they created a lot of jobs that would boost our economy now.


I listened to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott speak on a national news channel. I never knew he existed. What a great man. I ask Donald Trump to consider him as part of his team. A great choice.


Donald Trump, aka John Miller, now has the opportunity to further promote his presidential bid with a new campaign song that best defines his candidacy: “The Great Pretender.”


Trump’s daughter says people should pay attention to what her father does, not what he says. OK: What he does is say things that disparage and demean women and minorities.


How ignorant, out of touch or dishonest is Hillary Clinton? She says she would put Bill in charge of creating jobs when anyone with any intelligence knows that government does not create jobs directly. Only by it getting out of the way are jobs created.


Wonder where Paul Ryan got his kooky financial policies? He worked for Sam Brownback in the Senate, and adopted Brownback’s failed economic policies.


Why all of a sudden can TSA not keep up in major airports with the travelers? Just another example of government incompetence. Yet there are still millions of people out there who believe government should control everything. Right – don’t believe your lying eyes. The truth can hurt.


If cutting out two days of school saves $400,000, imagine what cutting out two months would do. Eliminate all the holidays, spring and winter breaks and in-service days, and have parent-teacher conferences in the evenings when it’s convenient for parents. Problem solved.


The murder rate is rising in almost every city in the country. Probably has nothing to do with the fact the NRA supports and ensures easy access to guns for all citizens, mentally stable or not.


Politicians say the reason for violence in the Middle East is lack of opportunity. Then I watched over 60 years these same politicians let millions of legals and illegals come here, taking these same opportunities from the American people, and it seems America is becoming more violent.


When I was young I thought like a liberal. I thought that the government owed me stuff. I rejected the idea of “God” and was atheistic. In short – I was a Democrat. But then I grew up.
