Gun accident at Augusta High School graduation raises concerns

Needless to say, the 37-year-old man who, according to police, brought a concealed handgun to the Augusta High School graduation ceremony Sunday afternoon was not a responsible gun owner. In addition to his reckless decision to hide the gun in his sock, a sign at the entrance of Hillier Stadium clearly indicated that it was a gun-free zone. But the accidental discharge of his weapon – in which the bullet struck his foot and then ricocheted and struck a woman in the leg – is raising understandable concerns about the potential danger of other such accidents, especially when concealed guns are allowed on college campuses beginning July 1, 2017. How many college students won’t store and carry their guns responsibly? – Phillip Brownlee
