Opinion Line Extra (May 13)

The poorly maintained D.C. rail system, just as with Detroit, is a vivid example of what happens when Democrats are in control.

When each presidential election draws near, I check the Communist Party USA’s website for its endorsement and vote for someone else. Last time it heartily endorsed Obama.

Obama obviously has a short memory. In 2008 the Democrats were stuck with an inexperienced, know-nothing, done-nothing, glib-talking showman as their standard-bearer. It worked for them. We are now a third-rate world power and perhaps damaged beyond repair.

I’ll bet Republicans are wishing they’d stuck to the original agreement of splitting the idiot vote and competing for the rest based on the strength of their ideas.

What does it say about our nation when some say that a candidate is without redeeming qualities, but they will support him to keep someone else from winning? Are elections no more than games to be won or lost? Lives are affected. Issues matter.

Donald Trump’s tweet wars with anyone disagreeing with him remind me of two little kids on either side of the street each yelling that his dad can beat up the other’s.

Ted Cruz and John Kasich tried to team up to defeat Donald Trump. However, the only thing they actually got around to doing together was to drop out of the race.

Government is the problem. The economy grows at half the rate it should because taxation and spending are too high. Workers don’t get raises due to uncontrolled immigration. Businesses leave America because taxation and regulation are too high, taking jobs with them.

So basically the chickens – our Legislature – are giving Brownback – the fox – the keys to the henhouse. They had the chance to fix the mess by repealing his unfair tax policy and overriding his inevitable veto, but then they didn’t. Cowards.

I saw an article on the new unmarked Ford Explorer police interceptor with hidden lights. I think it would be great to use around Wichita. It seems the drivers who complain the loudest about police using these just to give tickets are the ones who know they’ll get caught.

While driving on Kellogg, I set the cruise control at 62 mph and hold the middle lane. I leave the fast lane for the speeders and the cops who chase them.
