Lawmakers shouldn’t whine about Brownback’s budget cuts
Gov. Sam Brownback said Wednesday that the budget cuts he is planning to make could differ from what lawmakers thought when they approved next year’s budget. If that upsets some lawmakers, they have only themselves to blame. Rather than pass a budget that balanced, as is their job, they left it to Brownback to make the required spending cuts. Lawmakers who ceded this authority have no business whining if they don’t like Brownback’s cuts. – Phillip Brownlee
