The Michigan Senate approved $128 million more for Flint for water improvements. Could you imagine Kansas being able to react similarly to a major health problem?
In decrying payday loans, the Washington Post asked: “If you can’t cover an expense now, how is pledging future income that you’ll surely need later going to help?” This would seem to apply to Gov. Sam Brownback’s plans for the tobacco settlement and KPERS.
How did Planned Parenthood nuzzle up to the taxpayer trough? There are many good nonprofit clinics around to provide medical care to low-income people without doing harm.
Brownback’s decision to end Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood will cost the state a bundle of money in court. And Brownback will lose.
Hillary Clinton is the epitome of the “me, myself and I” egomaniac, even worse than Donald Trump.
Cal Thomas nailed it with his May 4 column. It’s going on the fridge where my wife will see it every day. The elite politicians, with their out-of-control spending, cronyism, political correctness and overregulation, have made Trump necessary.
The Republican Party is getting exactly what it deserves, and I have no sympathy for it. This self-inflicted pathos is the obvious outcome of the past five, 15, maybe even 30-plus years of an unrelenting moronic pursuit in far-right rigid ideological purity.
More regulatory hypocrisy: The Obama administration proposes to allow power company wind turbines to kill 4,200 bald and gold eagles per year. But shoot just one and you can go to jail, pay a fine or both.
Bringing football back to WSU is the dumbest thing president John Bardo could have suggested. My wife and I, Shocker Athletic Scholarship Organization members and men’s basketball season ticket holders for 25-plus years, will not support that ill-advised idea.
Wichita State is once again talking about football. OK. Oh, wait – it actually reached out to the Mountain West Conference. Holy pigskin, Batman. Leaving the middle school Missouri Valley Conference to play in a bigger boy conference? Hades must be freezing over.
I would like to know why private lawn maintenance workers are allowed to blow grass clippings and debris down the sewer drains. I have to sweep up my clippings, and these guys come in and do not give their actions a second thought.
