A contributor to Opinion Line calls for some kind of display at the year-old Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport terminal to celebrate its namesake. Valerie Wise, air service and business development manager at the airport, said via e-mail: “The Wichita Airport Advisory Board has adopted a policy for public art that also includes a plan to display Eisenhower materials once an appropriate location has been determined, a funding plan developed, and the various Eisenhower family interests have approved of the plan’s elements. The airport has begun discussions with the Eisenhower Presidential Library, Museum and Boyhood Home, as well as members of the Eisenhower family, about determining ideas and how to properly and tastefully display Ike and tell his story in the terminal. It could include such items as a larger-than-life sized sculpture, memorabilia and artifacts of his life, or a portrait.” Good to know. – Rhonda Holman
