Has the new police chief driven the streets of Wichita? Has he seen all the idiot drivers out there and what they are doing and getting away with? Does he care? More tickets mean more money, which means more officers.

I wonder if the police officers like the idea of the training center on the WSU campus. I can’t imagine why anyone would want it to be in such a busy area, with little parking as it is, after having the good space they have had for years.

So the Legislature is raising our car registration fee because of the Highway Patrol crisis? Another example of a tax increase caused by Brownback’s favoritism to the 330,000 who don’t pay state income tax. Brownback’s “rape and burn” of Kansas economics is getting a little old.

Rep. Virgil Peck may wonder why vehicle owners should pay extra car fees for more troopers, but I am glad to see the Legislature covering that expense instead of stealing again from the highway fund. An extra $3.25 isn’t going to kill anyone, but not enough highway patrolmen just might.

In Kansas, instead of the Little Engine That Could we have the Little Legislature That Couldn’t.

Thank you, Kansas Legislature, for showing us how much you love the wealthy and businesses. And how much you truly hate teachers and children.

USD 259 is trying to reduce its $27 million busing cost? How about starting with making wise, logical, forward-thinking decisions, such as leaving Southeast High where it is and not building a school in a location that automatically forces an increase in transportation costs?

The schoolteachers get paid for 12 months. They should work 12 months. We paid for air conditioning in schools. Let’s use it.

Politicians make hay demonizing big companies. Where do they think jobs come from? I realize they are only worried about their jobs, but in the process they are killing ours.

Millennials complain about capitalism while hugging their iPhones and tablets. Hypocrites, all.

I am not sure the Kochs, whom I do admire, realize what they started in the tea party. The Trump coalition is basically the same people: libertarians, political and religious conservatives, and disillusioned Democrats.

The scariest thing about Donald Trump is not the bizarre things he has said to maintain constant media coverage. It is that no one seems to know who the real Donald is. Is the entertainer/businessman/politician a moderate in tea partier clothing? Only God knows, and He’s not saying.

We need more Christians in politics and less politics in Christians.

I really only eat oatmeal because I’m embarrassed by how high my cholesterol is.

Box scores. We need box scores.
