Given the opportunity, would Kris Kobach build a fence around Kansas? Would it be to keep people in or out?
Thank you, Gov. Sam Brownback, for trying to protect us. Middle Eastern Muslims are being sent to Kansas without our consent. Have we forgotten Sept. 11 and the Boston Marathon massacre so soon? It takes only one to set off a bomb. Wealthy Saudi Arabia could easily provide a place for them.
So Brownback was a compassionate senator, letting his faith shape his actions toward immigrants. What happened? Maybe he’ll tell us someday. It would make an interesting story. You can’t be a compassionate Republican in Kansas now, or your own party will run a zealot against you in the primary.

I agree we need more Highway Patrol officers, but not by an increase in taxes – oops, I mean fees. How long before the governor raids this fund to close the revenue gap?
The GOP says that we must protect the children from being in the same bathroom as a transgender person, but not from school shootings, or poverty, or hunger, or cuts to education, or lack of health care.
I totally support LGBT people. They can share my restroom, live next door, worship with me – no problem. The next law might discriminate against bald-headed Presbyterian men.
It may be true that Democrats are not all left-wing radical extremists, but I would bet that all left-wing radical extremists voted for Democrats in 2008 and 2012.
The true racist is the person who thinks only whites are racist.
It looks like the Sedgwick County commissioners need to reinstate their former communications department, or hire Bothner and Bradley to do their PR. What they are doing isn’t working. The majority commissioners ran on a platform that government is incompetent. When they got in office, they proved it.
I have one thing to say to the anti-Trump demonstrators: The only protest that counts is at the ballot box.
It appears that columnist Davis Merritt really, really doesn’t like Donald Trump (May 3 Opinion). That should be interpreted as a ringing endorsement for Kansas Republicans.
This day will never happen again. Make the most of it.
