Opinion Line Extra (May 1)

George W. Bush was a great president. I would like to have him back. The only thing better would be to resurrect Ronald Reagan.

President Obama says “The Big Short” is wrong. Wall Street has changed. Yes, and ISIS is the JV. Sounds like someone wants to line up some speaking engagements after he is, thankfully, out of office.

I can guarantee that if imprisoned convicts were treated like they are in other countries, there would be a lot less crime in the USA.

Sen. Pat Roberts is complicit in the establishment of the prison at Gitmo. He supported all Bush’s war-drum beating and the result is coming back to bite him. During World War II, what is now the Pennsylvania National Guard facility was a German POW camp, and no ill effects came from it.

Sen. John McCain wants Roberts to withdraw objection to a vote on Eric Fanning to be Army secretary. Roberts first wants the Obama administration to take Fort Leavenworth off the list of possible sites to transfer Gitmo detainees to. McCain is a prime example of why the establishment is dead.

In the formative years of our country, politicians donated their time, part time, to “serve” the people. It is dishonest for politicians today to say they are serving the people. In fact, they are “working” for the people and paid very well.

If you call yourself a Christian, then be a Christian.

Any business that wants to use religion as a basis for its discrimination of gay marriage or the LGBT community had better be cash only. All the major credit-card companies support LGBT rights.

Those touting how awful marijuana is need to have the same opinion on alcohol. Do you remember how well Prohibition worked?

If the Kansas impeachment bill proposal mirrors the federal government, the only impact on government officeholders will be an asterisk by their name and nothing more, just like President Bill Clinton. Let’s not think than an asterisk is a deterrent to bad behavior.

It’s a mistake to legislate the meaning of “high crimes and misdemeanors.” Our forefathers intended these terms to mean whatever the Legislature wanted them to mean. And Kansas Supreme Court justices should’ve been impeached after the Montoy school funding decision.

To all those idiots who fly through flooded streets and laugh about it, thinking it is funny: I just want you to know that I think it’s funny and I’m laughing because you now have a big repair bill at the auto shop.
