Taking in refugees from countries that don’t try to stop Islamic extremism in their midst reminds me of the story of a woman who flagged a passing motorist to change a tire. She then asked the generous soul to work quietly and not wake her husband in the back seat.
Americans don’t get it. It’s not about Christians versus Muslims or Muslims versus Christians. It’s about everyone versus terrorists.
Since the U.S. is split evenly between Republicans and Democrats, why don’t we split the U.S. into two countries, a liberal Democratic country and a free-market Republican country? Then let’s see which country’s quality of life is better in 10 years.
If we want our currency to be a true reflection of current cultural values, Harriet Tubman ought not to be on the $20 bill. Any one of the Kardashians would be a far more appropriate choice.
Hillary Clinton is the furthest thing from a Democrat, and if all primaries were open, Bernie Sanders would be winning by landslides.
With all the “Bern” going around, it’s obvious that not too many millennials have read “The Goose That Laid the Golden Egg” nor “The Little Red Hen.”
There are some anti-Trump protesters who think that out-of-control anger, violence and attempts to shut down free speech will persuade people not to vote for him. It just may have the opposite effect.
Something is happening here. People have their hands out. “Gimme, gimme, gimme.” Where did the spirit of “I can do this myself” go? Poof – like a welfare state check, it’s gone.
I completely agree with the Pittsburg Morning Sun (April 29 Now Consider This). Both Gov. Sam Brownback and state budget director Shawn Sullivan should resign. If that doesn’t happen, maybe impeachment would work.
Brownback and the Republican Legislature weren’t elected to run a budgetary shell game, moving money between state accounts. They were elected to cut spending. The Alvarez & Marsal efficiency audit should be implemented ASAP.
Living under Brownback’s administration is like being the “Settlers” featured on the DirecTV ads.
We don’t have a secure future water supply or good streets in Wichita, but we have a toy train. How sweet it is.
Congratulations to both Cindy Klose and Susan Peters. We will miss both wonderful newscasters. I hope Klose can have a few specials, and Peters is doing what she loves best in “Susan’s Kids.”
On a cold, windy and rainy day such as Friday, I thank God – even though there seems to be less proof of it daily – that He made us intelligent enough to build shelter to protect ourselves from the elements.
I tend to criticize our government for overreaching. It really overreached when it established some of our early national parks. Thank you, Teddy.
