As the U.S. throws more troops at the losing proposition that is the Middle East conflict and the ISIS mess it spawned, who knew we’d look back with nostalgia on the relatively easy standoff with communism that was the Cold War?

During several recent elections, I’ve heard lots of folks say that they are voting for the lesser of two evils. In the current election, they’ll be voting for the evil of two lessers.

Regardless of the Republican primary outcome, a lot of conservatives and evangelicals will have to explain how they compromised their long-held beliefs and values and supported Donald Trump.

A gaggle of celebrities say they will leave the country if Trump becomes president? Another reason to vote for Trump.

How can so many people be so gullible as to align themselves with Trump? We are better than that. Charles Koch was right: He’s a terrible role model. Do people really want him as the leader of our country and our representative in the free world?

I’ve decided that I would prefer not to share a bathroom with any of the GOP candidates for president.

I had the TV on and thought I heard Howard’s mother from “The Big Bang Theory,” with her usual screech. Turns out it was Hillary Clinton. I couldn’t tell them apart.

Gov. Sam Brownback’s tax policy has been a total failure for the citizens of Kansas. Sorry, Governor – if you want to entice new companies to move to Kansas, find a way to offer Arizona weather, Colorado mountains and Florida beaches.

While Brownback and his lemming legislators were blaming President Obama for the state’s financial problems, my 401(k) increased 70 percent. Go, Obama!

Since public education is such a great value and benefit to our state, why are we bickering over tax dollars? Why are we not actively pursuing all those who benefit, and all those who are supportive of public education, to contribute and voluntarily invest in our children?

Having the schools run like a business wouldn’t work, because they would go broke handing out refunds for their defective products.

We sold our lakeside cabin 60 miles from Wichita after I put down a bowl of rural tap water for my dog to drink and she barked at it. We then got a notice from the rural water district that testing showed fecal coliform at high levels in the water. Kansas has a problem.

There are some low, judgmental people on this Earth, but you have reached a new low when you send an anonymous letter to a cancer victim, whom you knew had just undergone a bone marrow transplant, criticizing him for not keeping up his yard.

When Kansas weather rolls in, the TV weather guessers seem to be paid by the word and their favorite words are “could,” “might,” “possibly,” “maybe” and “potentially.”
