Opinion Line Extra (April 28)

Mother Nature can be cruel. I don’t mean the obvious damage to property and living beings. Many people look forward to the spring flowers, and sometimes she comes along and destroys them, her own work.

I could not believe the idiots driving I-235 on Tuesday afternoon. Barely raining. Driving 40 mph. On a dry day, they would be driving 70 mph in the 55 mph construction zone.

If Hillary Clinton (I call her “Billary”) cannot secure sensitive e-mails, then she won’t keep this country secure. What is she going to do when they bring charges against her for not securing her e-mails? Donald Trump is going to have fun with her in a debate.

Trump is part of a plan designed to split the party and put the Democrats in the White House? Oh, please. That’s an old lie used to divert blame and ease the hurt. The Republicans don’t represent the people. Democrats win again.

Trump claims he’s not a sexist. Yet he states that Hillary’s only course to the presidency is to play the “woman’s card,” because if she were a man she wouldn’t get 5 percent of the votes. Hmmm.

Aside from wanting to build a Mexican border wall, Trump is more liberal than even Sen. John McCain, and we know how his presidential bid turned out.

When the national debt from the beginning of our government until Bush reached $9 trillion, then-Sen. Obama said Bush was unpatriotic. After seven years, it is now near $20 trillion. What are we to call Obama?

Despite pious pronouncements that the Senate must act on the lame-duck president’s nomination to replace Justice Antonin Scalia, does anyone really believe that if the roles were reversed – a Republican president and a Democratic-controlled Senate – the Democrats would say, “We will act promptly on the president’s nomination”?

If you have been unemployed for seven years, it’s not the governor’s fault. Get off your lazy butt and pound the pavement. There are jobs out there for people who truly want to work.

For years Republican state legislatures, led by the likes of Kris Kobach, have worked hard to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters. And columnist Cal Thomas thinks it is dirty politics that convicted felons in Virginia can now vote, as they can in Kansas and most other states?

I never have liked spoiled brats, especially those who are blessed beyond belief. So, Kelly Ripa, you should stay home and have your pity party. Your fans don’t appreciate your tantrum and won’t be watching your show anymore. Congratulations, Michael Strahan.
