If Sedgwick County Commissioner Karl Peterjohn advances through the GOP primary in August, and if Goddard Mayor Marcey Gregory gets enough petition signatures to run as an independent, there could be a rematch in November of the 2008 commission race, in which Peterjohn defeated Gregory by 54 to 45 percent. If that’s the matchup, which candidate would the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce support? The chamber backed Gregory in 2008 but endorsed both Peterjohn and Jeff Longwell in the GOP primary in 2012. Gregory ran as a Democrat in 2008 but says she is running as an independent this time in order to “bring a nonpartisan voice to the commission.” – Phillip Brownlee
