Equus Beds legislation clears first hurdle
It is encouraging that legislation to extend by 10 years the federal funding authorization for the Equus Beds Aquifer Storage and Recovery Project cleared the Senate last week. Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., who introduced the bill with Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., said that it “will help make certain citizens of south-central Kansas have a safe drinking water supply for decades to come.” Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Wichita, introduced a companion bill in the House in February, saying at the time that it was important “to ensure that this vital natural resource continues to provide safe and abundant water.” – Phillip Brownlee
