Opinion Line Extra (April 20)
President Obama is traveling to meet three of our most important allies in Europe and the Mideast this week. When they tell him to catch a cab at the airport to come meet, it may give him an idea how unhappy they are with him.
Obama is not the worst president ever. Jimmy Carter is the worst. Obama is only the second worst.
Democrats are for helping the poor, protecting the environment, equality, human rights, education, free speech and world peace. I am, too, so most likely I will vote Republican.
Congressional pay, benefits and term limits should be put on the national ballot this fall. That won’t happen, but we can quit voting for incumbents.
I think Democrats should use the classic phrase “It’s the economy, stupid,” but in a positive way. Despite the negative rhetoric from Republicans, the economy has improved. And if they hadn’t blocked every economic stimulus program, it would be even better.
It’s no wonder Donald Trump appeals to the uneducated. He can tell them anything and they will believe him.
Trump is trying to pull off a con job. Even if the delegate system were crooked and unfair, as he alleges, it would be unfair to all candidates equally, not just him. Also, he says he has a majority of the primary votes so far, but he only has a simple plurality.
Trump gladly admits to giving money to politicians to buy influence. But he says that bargaining for convention delegates is beneath him and that Ted Cruz is terrible and stealing his votes. Really?
For an illness, you take medicine to get better. When government is ill, you should not give it more of the same germ if you expect improvement.
Many of the “tough guy” contributors to this column would have our Earth looking like a burnt match if their “policies” were enacted.
Congress, do the world a favor – remove Texas from the Union and return it to Mexico.
This isn’t Kansas anymore. It’s Sherwood Forest. And the king and his vassals are still stealing (taxing, legally) from the poor and giving the proceeds to the rich. Where are Robin Hood, Friar Tuck and Maid Marian when we need them?
A public official admits to what looks like political corruption at Sedgwick County, but what does Wichita TV news cover? Vaping. So glad they’re “fact finders,” on my side and have my back. Haven’t they ever heard that “where there’s smoke, there’s fire”?
The worst thing about people is that they don’t care about anyone but themselves.
